Paper

Paper

Paper accounts for 85% of a diary, in weight.

  • Our paper is 100% sourced from environmentally certified forests, i.e. forests where the exploitation does not reduce forested cover but enhances it through the preservation of younger trees, which absorb more CO2 and are considered as the lungs of the Earth.
    • These forests are certified according to recognized international standards: PEFC, FSC. These certifications guarantee that:
    • Ecological areas are protected;
    • Local populations are respected.
  • Our paper is sourced from pulp and paper mills that are:
    • Almost energy self-sufficient;
    • All ISO 14001 certified;
    • Wood components other than cellulose are used as fuel in recovery boilers.
  • Our paper is Elementary Chlorine Free (ECF). Oxidants used to whiten the pulp do not produce any form of dioxin and have a very low level of organochlorines having no residual impact on the environment.
  • Our paper is made with natural gas, which reduces sulfur emissions.
    • The CO2 resulting from the combustion of natural gas is not vented but is recycled in the production of mineral feedstocks (chalk) injected in the paper production process
  • Our paper uses 70% less water than 25 years ago and produces 10 times less organic waste.
    • Biological treatment stations located in paper mills virtually eliminate all particles from waste water.
    • The water used in the paper production process sometimes comes out of the plant cleaner than it came in with.
